Charity calls for UK G20 climate leadership
An environmental charity has called for the UK government to show leadership at today`s (April 1st) G20 summit.The meeting takes place in London and leaders from some of the world`s most powerful nations will be in attendance.Discussions will centre around growth, finances and world issues such as food crises and terrorism.Friends of the Earth environmental spokesperson Asad Rahman explained that the British government should make a stand and encourage developed countries to help the nations most affected by climate change.`This is a critical moment when we have a financial crisis, a climate crisis, a food crisis #133; and I hope the G20 leaders will take the decision that we need to protect more people on the planet,` he said.Another environmental charity WWF recently held Earth Hour - a worldwide event that saw millions make a stand against climate change by switching off their lights for an hour.People looking to play their own part in the battle against climate change can invest in carbon offsetting to reduce their footprint.
